The school now offers diplomas as part of its strong work-based ethos and has developed strong links with the local community; non more so than with the Aspire Hair and Beauty Salon.
Budding hairdressers are given the opportunity to cut and colour hair alongside a professional hairdresser.
Assistant headteacher Diane Ross, said: “It’s a different style of learning and teaches communication skills, life skills, and the real practical skills that employers want.
“The Aspire salon is thriving, with student’s grandparents and parents flocking to have their hair done.
“We asked the council where their was a spare building in the village and it went from there.”
The students wear a uniform and get to work in a real salon environment. |
