Home-school links
Annual Prizegiving
Close links between school and home help us to know our students better and we welcome these contacts. Parents are more than welcome at school and each year we formally invite parents to visit Form Tutors, Year Co-ordinators, subject teachers and senior staff. Local primary school children visit several times before they officially transfer to us. Our staff work closely with primary schools to ensure a happy transfer. We also share facilities and resources with our primary schools.
All students are provided with a Personal Planner. This helps each student to organise their homework, keep track of their progress, record their Merits (rewards) and also provides a further link for parents and Form Tutors.
Pastoral organisation
The Form Tutor is responsible for the welfare and academic progress of students in the form. It is the Form Tutor whom parents should contact first to discuss their child's schooling. Each year group is divided into forms and Form Tutors have daily contact with their students. They work closely with the Year Co-ordinator, Assistant Year Co-ordinator, Pastoral Support Mentors and senior staff in dealing with both pastoral and academic matters. Year 12 and 13 students also have staff directly responsible for their guidance and progress. Each year group, including Sixth Form, has Parents' Meetings timed to coincide with yearly examinations. There are also review meetings where form teachers and parents can, again, discuss the progress of individual students.
