BSF Completion Celebration

The building work, refurbishment, and landscaping of Alsop High School came to an official end on May 27 th 2011. The day was marked with an opening ceremony in the new, main dining area of the school with food and performances delivered by the students. There were also speeches from headteacher Phil Jamieson and the architect of the new school building, Martin Shutt.

“It was a challenge and at times very difficult, but it was also very rewarding,” said the architect. He went on to say the design for the new Jamieson Building was unique, with no other school under the ‘Building Schools for the Future’ having the same look that Alsop has. He finished by saying he hoped the school goes on to be ‘enjoyed, celebrated, and utilised.’

And when the headteacher focused his attentions to the new school building, it was clear to see his pride. “Alsop will go from strength to strength with these transformational new facilities. Future pupils will succeed here. We are, in my biased opinion, the best school of its size in the city.”
