The numbers of pupils who successfully move on to their next stages in education, employment and training is high.
At Alsop the careers information, advice and guidance given to our pupils is taken very seriously. Good career guidance is critical if young people are to raise their aspirations and capitalise on the opportunities available to them. At Alsop we have a dedicated Careers, Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) co-ordinator, Mr Barnes, whose role is provide advice and support to students, parents and staff and to ensure that impartial careers advice and guidance is given to all students.
From September 2018, all pupils between years 7 – 11 will receive careers education delivered through form time activities as well as careers education being embedded across the curriculum.
All students will benefit from one on one careers interviews from our specialist Careers Connect advisor, Paul Williams, who is on site 3 days a week. If you would like to arrange an interview with Paul, you can do so through Mr Barnes, or through Paul himself in the LRC.
All pupils in year 7-9 have access to ‘ The Connected Portal’ which is an online portal from Careers Connect that has a range of careers resources including job profiles, leaflets on Higher Education and a CV builder.
Pupils in years 10-11 will create accounts on ‘UniFrog’ to help them prepare for their post-16 options.
Throughout the academic year there will be numerous opportunities to get involved in a range of workshops and programmes that we run with a number of external providers including The Princess Trust, Barclays, local Universities and Everton and Liverpool Football Clubs.
Support is in place for all staff to receive up to date information and CPD training though our service agreement with Career Connect. Any requests from staff to receive any careers related training should be passed through Mr Barnes.
