Tales from the Library

Alsop High School launch a new parental engagement strategy as part of their initiative to promote life-long learning.

Alsop has launched a parental engagement strategy in a bid to provide parents and carers with a wealth of information and advice about school life. Every Thursday a parents’ coffee morning is held in the school library. It is an opportunity for parents to get together, socialise and learn more about how they can support their children to reach their full potential.

Ms Tapia-Bowes writes: “We are thrilled that over 20 people are now attending coffee mornings. We meet every Thursday between 9 and 11 am. It’s a lovely way for parents to share some time together and discuss books and current affairs. Parents are finding the time supportive and informative. It is great to see parents discussing common concerns and finding out how they can provide much needed extra support for their children.”

Mr Masher, Headteacher comments: “We are very keen to promote opportunities for parents and carers to meet in a relaxed and supportive environment. The school is committed to strengthening our links with the north Liverpool community. We look forward to developing our plans for parental and community engagement.”

Alsop has plans to further develop their successful Short- story, Playwriting and Novel Writing courses and provide opportunities for adult and family learning.

One parent who participated on last years’ course writes: “Thank you, Alsop for fabulous support. I have now gained my maths qualification. I used to be terrified of maths, however with your help I’m more confident and my qualification will help me with my career.”
The coffee mornings are held every Thursday at 9am in the school library. For further information about this initiative please contact office@alsophigh.org.uk or telephone 0151 235 1200
