2019 Confucius Institute, Schools Dragon Boat Racing Competition at Liverpool Water sports centre, Queens Dock.

Tuesday 4th June 2019

Alsop High School entered a mixed team into the 2019 Schools Dragon Boat Race at Liverpool Water sports Centre, Queens Dock.

Our school have taken part in the competition every year since its launch in 2014.

Deputy Director of the Confucius Institute, John Tasker, said: “Dragon Boat Racing is a growing sport in the UK and worldwide with its unique combination of traditional culture, sport and teamwork.

“You can see why when you see all the smiling faces today. I’m delighted that the Liverpool Confucius Institute has once again been able to organise this event and give young people across Merseyside the opportunity to learn about Chinese culture, keep fit and have fun.”

The competition was fantastically organised as always and the students enjoyed the experience of taking part in an activity that was totally new and challenging.

Positive behaviour and enthusiastic attitude from our students was commented on by staff at the centre and teaching staff from other schools.

A great day was enjoyed by all and steps have been made to encourage future groups to take part in activities such as Canoeing, Paddle Boarding and Sailing at the centre.
