Identical twin boxers are top of the class at Alsop High School

Alsop students and staff celebrated record A Level results, which included a record number of pupils achieving the highest grades in A Levels. BTEC grades are also significantly above the national average. Staff are delighted that a record number of students have secured university places.

Mr Joe Mangan, Headteacher comments:

These fantastic results really reflect the hard work and dedication of Alsop pupils and staff.

Top academic achievers included the Birkenhead twins who have managed to juggle amateur boxing success with academic success.  The Kirkdale siblings Paul and Patrick Birkenhead both achieved A, A, A* in Biology, Chemistry and History A-levels and have successfully secured places at Liverpool University to study medicine.

Mr Colin McCormick, Head of History comments:

We are really proud of Patrick and Paul. This proves that hard work pays off.

We wish them every success as they begin to study medicine and fulfil their dreams to become doctors.

October Wright, Assistant Headteacher comments:

Seeing our young people embarking on the next stages of their lives after achieving the academic success they deserve is such a great privilege.
