Shakespeare, Fairies and Poetry at Alsop

This week Alsop High School students received a treat with a surprise celebration on their return to school. It was Shakespeare’s Birthday!

This event involved five motivational speakers delivering talks and answering questions. One of the talks “Did Shakespeare Believe in Fairies?” was well received by students and was followed by a lively discussion.

The purpose of these visits is to bring published writers into Alsop and enable students to identify with their work, craft and themes.

Mrs Tapia-Bowes comments:

“The students were enthralled by the writers and we hope that the visit helped to promote a greater love of reading.”

Mrs Tapia-Bowes quoted Shakespeare:

"All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players: They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts."
