5.00pm prompt Auschwitz Survivor Testimony

We would like you to join us for a one-off opportunity to hear an unbelievable, powerful and inspiring story of survival. Zigy is an 87 year old Holocaust survivor. He was ten when war broke out and he was moved into the Lodz Ghetto before being sent to Auschwitz.

Zigi survived by working in the metal factory, wore the now famous striped pyjamas and was branded with the number 84303. He was sent to another concentration camp and forced on a death march, before liberation. This is a very special, deeply moving and inspiring story of a true gentleman and hero

He gave a presentation to the England Squad during Euro 2012 and prepared the squad for their private visit to Auschwitz. Zigy speaks widely about his experience at the hands of the Nazis. During January 2015 delivered his testimony in Westminster Abbey. This inspiring and deeply moving testimony has been arranged by the Holocaust Educational Trust.

‘If something happens, I would want there to be somebody who would remember that someone named D. Berger had once lived. This will make things easier for me in the difficult moments.’

David Berger, in his last letter before being murdered by Nazis in Vilnius, 1941.
