Year 8 Alsop Students invited to new Careers Initiative by Liverpool Football Club

On Thursday 26th January 2017 Year 8 students were privileged to be invited to a new Careers Initiative by Liverpool Football Club - The Career Speed Networking Event.

The event commenced with a motivational talk from Liverpool Football Club's CEO, Ian Ayre, on his various job roles and life experiences.  This was followed by an opportunity to meet members of staff from various departments across the club who volunteered their time to speak with the pupils about their Careers journey.  the departments participating in the event included: Customer Experience; Customer Marketing; Retail; HR Equality & Diversity; Operations; Buying and Merchandising; Legal & Football Secretarial; Technology & Transformation; Merchandising; Communications; Foundation; Partnerships; Executive; Retail - Photography; Ex-Player; Legal; and Finance.

The speed networking event was delivered via a 6-minute rotation activity where students were encouraged to take control of each rotation by coming prepared with paper, pen and pre-set questions that included:

  • Name & job title
  • How did you get into your current role?
  • What are you likes and dislikes?
  • What is your biggest failure that you've learnt from?
  • How did you overcome it?
  • Top tips for success

The day was topped off by students listening to Liverpool Football Club record goal scorer Ian Rush talking about his unbelievable career.
