In these unprecedented times we wish to provide you all with as much support as possible. Students who are having to self isolate can still participate in live lessons and access school resources via logging on to their school account. Clicking below will take you to Office 365 where you can access emails with instructions about how to access resources.
Alsop Blended Learning
Blended Learning is the name for resources and materials which supports students in continuing their learning online and through technology while at home.
Alsop High School are committed to ensuring that all students self-isolating or shielding have immediate access to the knowledge rich curriculum being delivered in school. We feel that the best way of ensuring that all students access this content from home is by using Microsoft Teams. Students who are isolating but who are otherwise fit and well will be expected to log in to Microsoft Teams and participate in all the lessons taking place in school. They will also be expected to email their teachers with the work that they have completed and be able to evidence the completion of their knowledge organiser self-testing.
If your child is isolating or shielding, and are fit and well, we will expect them to log into Office 365 using their school email address and password. They will open up Microsoft Teams and their teacher in school, who is delivering their timetabled lesson, will invite them to join the class in school as the lesson is taught.
For example, if it is week A and your child has Science period 1, then they will ask to join their Science lesson on Teams at 8.45am. The normal behavioural expectations of a lesson apply, whether the student is learning remotely or in school (for additional guidance and support please see the blended learning section on our school website).
The school will post out a blended learning exercise book to each student isolating and ask that all work is completed in it. All students already have equipment packs. All work for the rest of the isolation will be completed in the same way.
Other expectations that we have are that they will access any assemblies and key messages for their year group each day from 8.20 – 8.45am (They do this by going to www.teamalsop.com ) and completing their knowledge homework self-quizzing homework each night and emailing this to the school for completion.

Please see below for a typical day of a student’s isolation:
We understand that this will be a significant change to the way in which your child is used to learning and the worry and concern you may have. To support all parents and students in this change we have created a remote learning team to contact all parents of students' self-isolating and offer any support needed. This may range from loaning laptops to those with no personal devices, posting paper packs to those who need them, checking that there is an understanding of how to use Microsoft Teams and what to do if there are any issues. Please do not hesitate to call the school and ask for Mrs Kimber or a member of the remote learning team if you need any support. A member of the team will be in touch during each isolation.
A member of the remote learning team will be in contact throughout your child's isolation to ensure that they understand the school's expectations and can access all the resources we have made available.
If you have any issues, questions or queries please call the school and ask to speak to a member of the remote learning team or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
