Our Year 8 students enjoyed a fantastic day of rugby league as they took part in a Tag Rugby World Cup event, competing against schools from across Liverpool.

The event was hosted by Liverpool School Sports Partnership (LSSP) alongside Liverpool Lions and St Helens Rugby League, giving our students a brilliant opportunity to experience the sport and develop their skills.

The students were fortunate to receive expert coaching from some outstanding names in the game, including Wales international Dani McGifford, England captain Jodie Cunningham, and St Helens Women’s player and RFL Development Officer Mikayla Gillespie.

After being introduced to the basics of tag rugby, the students had the chance to put their new skills into practice as they competed against other schools from across the city.

Our Year 8s took to the game brilliantly! Throughout the competition, they produced some strong defensive displays, rapid attacking play and excellent teamwork, growing in confidence with every match.

Their hard work and determination paid off as they finished in 1st place and brought home the trophy!

A fantastic achievement from the whole team and a brilliant introduction to rugby league. Well done, Year 8!
